Michel Aubenas and Eric Payan

The weekend of 11th of March

Restaurant L’EsPratx

Last weekend we have counted ourselves lucky; the skies have been cerulean blue, the almond blossom is in full pink regalia and Michel Aubenas and Eric Payan treated us to a fabulous concert on Saturday night.
Michel sang the blues with highlights of Afro-funk accompanied by Eric on keyboards. Eric also sang solo with his eloquent versions of an international repertoire.

Titanic- a!

Last Saturday the lights were dimmed, L'Es Pratx transformed into a night club and Titanic rocked! Yan and the gang brought the house down with Phil and his table top sax solo and plenty of 'beat' to get the dance floor happening!

Everyone enjoyed a delicious festive buffet feast, good wine and even a cocktail or two! Locals and expats alike came together and shared a rememberable evening.

Here comes Elvis

Money is tight for everyone and it’s harder to find than ever! That’s why on New Year’s Eve at L’Es Pratx, instead of providing the traditional expensive multi-course menu especially straight after Christmas, we’ve listened closely to what people really want. We have accordingly arrived at a price that will give guests the very best value without compromise and have organised a fabulous evening that hopefully all can afford.

We believe that New Year’s Eve should be all about having fun, celebrating the ‘now’ and looking forward to a better year ahead. So, with this in mind we have arranged a relaxed, fun, party night with a complimentary aperitif on arrival, free bubbly at midnight, sumptuous food, and great live music with dancing.

The evening starts with a complimentary welcome aperitif between 8 and 9pm followed by a delicious festive dinner that will comprise the following menu:-

At 10.30pm (approx) the music will commence with a new band called ‘Friends of L’Es Pratx’. These are hugely talented, young vibrant musicians who will be playing a mixture of Afro-beat and jazz-funk with only one old dude who plays congas (guess who!). The ‘star attraction’ arrives on-stage at 11.30pm when, having been privileged to secure his only performance in the entire world, we are delighted to present the Rock God himself, ‘Mr ELVIS PRESLEY’. He will be singing many of his old classic numbers at your table and at midnight will announce the ‘seeing out’ of 2011, and the ‘welcoming in’ of 2012 when everyone will be given a free glass of bubbly to celebrate. The music will continue on into the small hours until the last person drops.

All this for only 49€ per person and a big reduction for children under 12years @ 15€.

To be fair to some guests who don’t drink, we have not included wine in the ticket price. However on this special evening we are serving 1litre pichets @ 10€, or 6€ per half pichet and there will also be the usual comprehensive selection of regional wines.

Gead Mulheran ‘Rocks on Saturday night’

This Saturday at the Château Gead Mulheran and his band of Blues & Rock musicians entertained us with renditions of old classics, reminiscent of P.J. Proby and Little Richard together with studded belt and rich, powerful vocals. Coming from Manchester but now living near Sête on the ‘Bassin de Thau’ on the Mediterranean coast. All were up and dancing their worries away till 1.00a.m in the morning. There was no slow dancing and for those of us who embarrassed ourselves dancing ‘the twist’ and ‘the jive’ there was compensation in the fact that we were too old to care what we looked like! We served a hot buffet of home smoked Salmon, Seafood paella, braised lamb with a Madeira glaze and a hot steamed white chocolate pudding to name just a few of the dishes. With all these money worries around the world and bad weather, I think that a bit of fun is in order. Really kitsch but hey, who cares. We all made fools of ourselves; it was very cathartic. Too busy to be fed up but not too bored to ‘go for it’!!
